Joint Security Raid Clears Suspected Hideouts in Edo Forest

Joint security operatives have raided suspected criminal hideouts in Emu Forest in Esan South-East Local Government Area of Edo State, recovering weapons and other items.
Security sources said the operation was carried out at about 8:00 a.m. on May 18, 2026, by troops of the 4 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force and local hunters.
According to the sources, the joint team stormed Otoho and Nnamdo camps within the forest where suspected criminal elements were believed to be operating.
During the operation, the team recovered one locally fabricated firearm, several weapon components, three cutlasses and one motorcycle.
The recovered items were handed over to police authorities for further investigation and action.
Security sources said operations in the area were ongoing as part of efforts to dismantle criminal networks and restore calm in the region.
