Soldier Dies in Suspected Electrocution Incident in Ondo Cantonment

A soldier attached to the 32 Brigade Garrison has died in a suspected electrocution incident at a military cantonment power facility in Ondo State.
Military sources said the incident occurred on May 17, 2026, when the soldier, attached to the Cantonment Maintenance Group (CMG), was found unconscious behind a high-tension transformer near the cantonment power house.
According to preliminary findings, the soldier may have been electrocuted while attempting to check the status of the transformer.
He was immediately evacuated to the Ondo State Specialist Hospital, where he was confirmed dead by medical personnel.
The remains have since been deposited at the hospital mortuary.
Authorities said investigation has commenced to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
