Man arrested in Sokoto with fabricated rifle, live ammunition

Security operatives in Sokoto have arrested a 30-year-old man for unlawful possession of firearms.

 

The suspect, identified as Shehu Sani from Rabah Local Government Area, was intercepted on Wednesday during a routine stop-and-search patrol in Tureta.

 

He was found with a locally fabricated automatic rifle and two rounds of live AK-47 ammunition.

 

Authorities said the suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

 

The arrest, according to security sources, is part of ongoing efforts to curb the proliferation of illegal firearms in the state.
