By Zagazola Makama

A man identified as Mr. Danladi Marem has been stabbed to death by suspected criminals in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State in what security sources believe may be linked to a dispute over the sharing of mining proceeds.

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that troops of Sector 4 under Operation Enduring Peace  responded to a distress call at about 11:30 p.m. on Aug. 5 following reports of a stabbing incident along the Gana Daji community road.

On arrival at the scene, troops found the victim inside an abandoned vehicle, while the assailants had already fled.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the killing may have stemmed from a disagreement over the sharing of proceeds from mining activities.

The troops evacuated the victim’s body to the Barkin Ladi General Hospital mortuary.

Security forces have since launched a manhunt for the fleeing suspects as investigations continue.
