Max Air resumes Maiduguri flight after 1hr 30mins delay as passengers question pilot’s state of mind

Max Air on Monday finally commenced boarding for its Maiduguri-bound flight after a one-hour, thirty-minute delay caused by a pilot’s protest over unpaid entitlements.
Zagazola Makama reports that passengers had earlier been left stranded after the pilot reportedly refused to operate the flight, citing salary issues with the airline’s management.
After several minutes of negotiation between the pilot and the management, the airline later announced boarding around 2:00 p.m., allowing passengers to reboard the aircraft. This was after the Pilot were paid their salaries in full.
However, some passengers expressed concern over the psychological readiness of the pilot to fly the aircraft safely after the tense standoff.
“Many of us were worried. We appreciate that the issue has been resolved, but we also wondered if the pilot was in the right frame of mind to fly after such an emotional confrontation,” one passenger said.
Another passenger described the incident as “unprofessional and unsettling,” urging the airline to address internal welfare issues without disrupting scheduled operations.
Efforts by to obtain a reaction from Max Air officials in Maiduguri were unsuccessful as management representatives declined to comment on the matter.
