Niger police arrest suspect over death of lecturer in Minna

The Niger State Police Command has arrested a suspect following the death of a lecturer at Newgate University, Minna.
Sources disclosed that on Jan. 27 at about 10:00 a.m., Engr. Dr. Otori Abdulfatai Ayide of the Federal Polytechnic Bida visited Stella Joseph, a student of the Niger State School of Nursing and Midwifery, Tunga, Minna, to introduce himself as the new lecturer at the university.
“During the visit, the suspect was served spaghetti and egg by the student. After the meal, he began convulsing and collapsed,” the source said.
The DPO of Tudun-Wada Division immediately led a team of policemen to the scene. The victim was rushed to General Hospital, Minna, but was confirmed dead on arrival. The corpse was deposited at the hospital mortuary for autopsy.
The suspect has been taken into custody, and investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing.
