The Adamawa State Police Command has neutralised two suspected criminals and recovered firearms and ammunition during an operation in Gombi Local Government Area.
Sources disclosed that the operation followed the arrest of Abubakar Sadiq, 40, of Boga, Gombi, who confessed to culpable homicide and implicated two accomplices, Jalo Hamiyo, 35, and Umar Baba, 41, both of Fotta in Gombi LGA.
“During interrogation, Sadiq led investigators to his accomplices. On Jan. 28 at about 4:00 a.m., a joint team of policemen and Civilian Joint Task Force operatives moved to their compound for arrest,” the source said.
According to the source, the suspects opened fire on the operatives, resulting in a fierce gun duel. Both suspects were gunned down, while no casualty was recorded on the side of the security personnel.
Recovered at the scene were one locally made single-barrel rifle and one dane gun. Earlier, from Sadiq, an AK-47 rifle and 24 live rounds were recovered.
“The police are currently intensifying efforts to apprehend two other suspects, Baldu Danjuma and Ibrahim Bello, also of Fotta in Gombi LGA. SCID has been detailed for discreet investigation,” the source added.
The command assured residents of its commitment to curbing violent crimes and maintaining law and order in the area.
