Nigerian Army Concludes Combat Support Arms Training Week 2026 in Uyo

The Nigerian Army on June 3 successfully concluded the 2026 Combat Support Arms Training (COSAT) Week with a colourful closing ceremony held at Ibom Hall in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

The event brought together senior military officers, government officials and stakeholders to mark the end of a week-long programme designed to enhance professionalism, operational effectiveness and inter-corps collaboration among the Army's combat support arms.

Activities during the closing ceremony included lectures, presentation of souvenirs and goodwill messages highlighting the significance of continuous training and capacity development in addressing contemporary security challenges.

The closing remarks were delivered on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Waidi Shsibu, by Maj.-Gen. A.M. Garba, who commended participants for their dedication throughout the training week and reiterated the Army's commitment to building a highly professional and combat-ready force.

 

The Governor of Akwa Ibom State was represented at the event by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Waterways, Brig.-Gen. James Koko (Rtd), who praised the Nigerian Army's contributions to national security and expressed the state's continued support for security institutions.

 

Among the dignitaries in attendance were the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 6 Division, Maj.-Gen. E.E. Emekah; the Chief Host, Maj.-Gen. R.E. Hedima; Corps Commanders; the Commander, 2 Brigade; the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Trade and Investment; as well as senior officers and soldiers from various formations and units.

 

Participants reflected on lessons learned during the training week and underscored the importance of combat support arms in enhancing operational success across theatres of operation.

 

Military sources described the event as peaceful and well-organised, with all activities conducted without any security incident.

 

The annual Combat Support Arms Training Week serves as a platform for professional engagement, knowledge sharing and the strengthening of operational capabilities among the Nigerian Army's combat support arms, which play a critical role in supporting combat operations across the country.
