Nigerian army thwarted ISWAP ambush, clears IEDs in Borno
The Nigerian Military's troops Operation Desert Sanity on Saturday thwarted ambush attack by Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists in Mandagarau along Damboa to Biu road in Borno state.
It was gathered that the troops who were on a long range patrol in the general, intercepted the communication of the terrorists on their mission to plant an Improvised Explosive Device (IEDs), against troops.
The insurgents also planned to attack troops as soon as they succeeded in detonating the IEDs.
But the troops thwarted the plans after they stormed the scene. Consequently, on siting the troops, the terrorists abandoned their mission and fled to bush in different direction on motorcycles, leaving their IEDs materials.
The troops later cleared the Improvised Explosive Devices and facilitated safe passage of commuters to their various destinations.
