Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP) have intervened in a suspected cattle poisoning incident in Kimis village, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, where one cow belonging to Mr Tanko reportedly died after grazing on a suspected poisonous substance.

Security sources said the incident occurred at about 9:00 a.m. on Oct. 26, 2026, following allegations that Mr Ako Adagwi was responsible for the suspected poisoning.

The sources said troops of Sector 1, OPEP, responded to a report of the incident and proceeded to the location, where they found one dead cow.

Preliminary reports indicated that the animal died after grazing on a substance suspected to be poisonous, although the circumstances surrounding the incident were not independently established.

The intervention of the troops reportedly led to an amicable settlement between the parties involved, helping to prevent a possible escalation of the dispute.

The incident highlights the importance of prompt security intervention and peaceful dispute resolution in communities where disagreements involving livestock and farming activities can trigger tensions.

Residents were urged to maintain peace and report grievances to the appropriate authorities for investigation and resolution, rather than resorting to actions that could threaten peaceful coexistence.
