Troops of Operation Enduring Peace (OPEP), in collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and other security agencies, have conducted a show of force across major flashpoints in Jos and Bukuru metropolis of Plateau State.
The operation, conducted at about 1:45 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 9, was part of proactive measures to strengthen security and ensure peaceful Juma’at prayers across the area.
Security sources said the troops and other security personnel deployed to strategic locations within Jos and Bukuru metropolis to reassure residents and deter criminal elements from exploiting the period of congregational prayers.
The joint team also provided security at various mosques across different sectors and subsectors within the Joint Operations Area.
The sources said the exercise was designed to prevent security breaches, deny criminal elements freedom of action and ensure worshippers could observe their prayers without disruption.
The show of force forms part of ongoing security measures by OPEP and other agencies to maintain peace and prevent incidents of violence in Plateau State.
