Troops of Operation Enduring Peace  have responded to multiple reports of farm destruction and alleged crop damage by suspected Fulani Herders in communities across Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The incidents, recorded on August 16, 2026, occurred in several districts of the local government area and involved reports of crops allegedly destroyed by unidentified persons as well as cattle found grazing on cultivated farmland.

In Dambwash Village, Manguna District, troops of Sector 5, Operation Enduring Peace, responded to a report of farm destruction at about 8:40 a.m.

Upon arrival, the troops discovered that unknown individuals had allegedly used machetes to cut down maize crops on the farm.

An investigation has commenced to identify and apprehend those responsible for the destruction.

In another incident at Danbukur Village, Butura District, troops deployed at PLASU responded to a similar report at about 10:11 a.m.

The troops inspected the affected farm and discovered crops that had been cut down with a machete by unidentified individuals. The extent of the damage was subsequently assessed, while efforts are ongoing to invite Fulani herders in the general area for further investigation.

Meanwhile, at Fokkos Village, Tarangol District, troops deployed at GGC responded to a report of farm destruction at about 7:10 a.m.

The troops intercepted 42 cattle grazing on a farm without any herder present. The farmers and owners of the cattle were subsequently invited by the security personnel for an amicable resolution of the dispute.

A similar incident was recorded at Trangol Village in Bokkos LGA, where troops responding to a distress report found 42 cattle grazing on farmland after the herder reportedly fled upon sighting the troops.

The livestock were moved to the troops’ location pending an amicable settlement between the affected parties.

The repeated incidents have prompted security personnel to intensify patrols and investigations across the affected communities in an effort to prevent further destruction of crops and escalation of farmer-herder tensions.

Operation Enduring Peace  continues to engage relevant stakeholders in resolving disputes while maintaining security presence across vulnerable communities in Plateau State.
