Troops of Sector 2, Operation Fansan Yamma, have repelled an attack by armed bandits in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State, recovering 73 livestock believed to have been rustled from local communities.
Security sources said the operation took place on Oct. 8, 2026, following intelligence that armed bandits were moving between Kombo and Gurus villages.
The troops swiftly mobilised to the area and made contact with the armed men, forcing them to flee and abandon the livestock.
The recovered animals comprised 14 camels, 19 cattle and 40 sheep.
The livestock are currently in the custody of the troops pending verification and arrangements to return them to their rightful owners.
The recovery is expected to provide relief to affected livestock owners and underscores ongoing efforts by security forces to disrupt banditry, recover stolen property and protect rural communities.
Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma remain committed to sustaining counter-terrorism and anti-banditry operations across Zamfara State, with a focus on protecting lives and property and restoring peace in affected communities.
