Operation restore peace: military sustain offensive in Benue

The police in collaboration with the military have sustained joint operations under Operation Restore Peace in Benue, particularly in the Sankara axis of the state.
Sources told Zagazola Makama that aerial surveillance conducted on Sept. 26 sighted heavily armed bandits at the Takum boundary between Benue and Taraba States.
They said plans were underway by the Nigerian Air Force to carry out an airborne operation in the area.
Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) held a security stakeholders’ meeting at the Area Command Office, Katsina-Ala, where the Benue Government announced support for the burial of security personnel killed during an operation on Sept. 19.
According to sources , the state government has provided N500,000 each to cover burial expenses, while chairmen of the three LGAs in Sankara also pledged their support, including the provision of intelligence to aid the operation.
The source la reaffirmed the commitment of the security agencies to restore peace and protect communities across the state.
