The Niger-Benin oil pipeline has come under another attack in Niger Republic, marking the second act of sabotage on the critical infrastructure within a week.

A credible security source told Zagazola Makama  on Friday that the latest attack occurred at about 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 8, in the vicinity of PS05 station, near the village of Yaya in Konni Department, Tahoua Region.

The attack, which targeted the same area affected during the May 1 incident, is suspected to be an act of deliberate sabotage. Niger Authorities have yet to disclose the extent of damage or any disruption to oil flow resulting from the latest breach.

The Niger-Benin pipeline is a strategic asset jointly operated by China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) and the Government of Niger. It is designed to export crude oil from Niger’s Agadem oilfields to the port of Sèmè-Kpodji in Benin Republic.
