Troops eliminate several terrorists, recover arms, destroy terrorist camp in Katsina clearance operation

Troops of Headquarters Operation Forest Yaki (OPFY) Main Strike Team have eliminated several terrorists and recovered arms and ammunition during a clearance operation in parts of Katsina State.
A military intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation took place at about 5:30 a.m. on May 9.
According to the source, the troops advanced from Bini in the HAR axis through Landal village, Akuzo, and down to Yan Wutsiya area, where they encountered the terrorists in a camp known as “Soja Camp.”
The terrorists engaged the troops in a fierce gun duel eliminating several of them while others were forced to flee the camp with varying degrees of gunshot wounds, as evident from bloodstains seen around the area.
Following the exchange, the troops conducted a thorough exploitation of the camp, recovering the following items: Two AK-47 rifles, Ten AK-47 magazines loaded with 300 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, One 120mm mortar bomb suspected to be used for improvised explosive devices (IEDs), One locally fabricated PKT rifle, One locally made pistol, 120/88 links, Military uniforms and One Baofeng radio set with chargers.
The troops also destroyed a motorcycle belonging to the fleeing terrorists, along with all logistical and life-support structures within the camp.
The military sources reaffirmed its resolve to sustain aggressive operations until all terrorist enclaves in the region are dismantled.
