Plateau attack: Second officer injured, Commissioner visits JUTH as security operations continue
By: Zagazola Makama
The Plateau State Police Command has confirmed that a second officer from the State Intelligence Bureau (SIB) sustained gunshot injuries during the clearance operation following Wednesday’s deadly ambush by suspected Fulani militias in Bokkos Local Government Area.
Zagazola Makama had earlier reported that eight persons were killed and six others injured when armed men opened fire on a commercial bus returning from Bokkos Market along Mangor village road.
A combined team of security operatives had responded promptly and engaged the attackers, pursuing them into the surrounding forest.
A fresh update from the Command on Friday confirmed that a second officer, also from the SIB, was wounded in the operation and has since been evacuated to the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH) for advanced treatment.
The Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command, has visited JUTH alongside a medical team to assess the condition of the injured officers and provide support. He also directed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Bokkos to ensure the officers receive urgent and comprehensive medical attention.
Meanwhile, clearance and monitoring operations are ongoing in the general area, with additional reinforcements sustaining the pursuit of the assailants.
