Police arrest fake mad man cultivating cannabis farm in Awka

The Police Command in Anambra has arrested a 43-year-old man, Patrick Ojele, for allegedly cultivating a cannabis farm while disguising as a mentally deranged person in Awka.

 

Sources told Zagazola Makama that the arrest was made on Sept. 17 by a patrol team attached to the Department of Operations, Awka, led by ASP Christian Anthony.

 

It stated that the team, while on routine patrol along Awka–Enugu Express Road near Ngozika Estate junction, sighted a man loitering suspiciously and pretending to be a mad man.

 

The sources said that  police operatives arrested the suspect and upon interrogation, he confessed to being mentally sound. He identified himself as Patrick Ojele, a native of Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State but resident in Ugwuoba, Enugu State.

 

Ojele allegedly admitted that he had been disguising as a mad man to cultivate a marijuana farm in Awka for the past two years without detection. He later took the police team to the farm.

 

The suspect further revealed that he distributes cannabis to undisclosed customers and outlets within the state.

 

According to the sources , the suspect and the recovered exhibits have been transferred to the Special Anti-Cultism Squad for further investigation.
