Police arrest notorious bandits’ kingpin in Zamfara

The Police Command in Zamfara has arrested a notorious bandits’ kingpin identified as Muhammadu Kan Kani, also known as Akki, aged 57, of Kuraje village in Bungudu Local Government Area.

 

Sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspect was arrested on Sept. 17, following credible intelligence.

 

The sources said operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, with the support of their counterparts in Katsina State, apprehended the suspect while travelling from Kano to Yankara in Katsina State.

 

According to the source , the suspect confessed to being among the bandits terrorising communities in Tsafe, Yandoto and Yanwaren Daji.

 

“He also admitted to being a member of the Kachalla Dan Goggo gang, which has been terrorising Damba, Mareri and Saminaka areas of Gusau Local Government Area,” he added.

 

The sources said the suspect was undergoing investigation and would be charged to court upon completion.
