The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested three suspected members of a notorious “one-chance” robbery syndicate terrorising commuters in Abuja.

Sources said that the  arrest followed a complaint lodged by a victim, who was attacked on April 30, 2025, after boarding a commercial vehicle heading to the Central Area.

According to the victim, midway through the journey, the driver and another occupant of the vehicle pulled a knife on him, dispossessing him of ₦80,000 cash, one Infinix phone, one Tecno phone, and other personal items.

The suspects also seized his Zenith Bank ATM card and demanded the PIN. They subsequently withdrew a total of ₦2.7 million from his account at different POS terminals across the city.

“Upon receipt of the complaint, detectives of the Anti-One-Chance Team ‘B’ and the Surveillance Unit swung into action and launched a discreet investigation,” the statement said.

The sources disclosed that the operation led to the arrest of three suspects identified as Ahmed Mohammed, Ashafa Ali, and Mohammed Lamido Jabir, all of whom have confessed to the crime.

The suspects are currently in custody and undergoing further interrogation, while efforts are ongoing to recover the victim’s stolen property and apprehend other fleeing members of the syndicate.

The sources  assured residents that the Command had intensified surveillance and patrols across the FCT to clamp down on “one-chance” operators and other criminal elements.
