Bandits kill two miners in Zamfara

Atleast two miners have been killed by suspected bandits in Gummi Local Government Area of Zamfara l state.

 

Zagazola learnt that the incident occurred on Sept. 18 at about 7:45 a.m. when a group of armed bandits, moving on motorcycles toward Barikin Daji in Gummi LGA, opened fire on illegal miners from Zugu District of Bukkuyum LGA.

 

The attack led to the death of two miners.

 

Sources said army troops were immediately mobilised to the scene but the attackers had fled before their arrival.

 

The corpses of the victims were evacuated and later released to their relatives for burial in accordance with Islamic rites.
