Police arrest suspect over fatal stabbing of 25-year-old in Bauchi

Operatives of the Bauchi State Police Command have arrested a suspect in connection with the fatal stabbing of a 25-year-old man in Bauchi metropolis, while efforts are underway to apprehend an accomplice who remains at large.

Police sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident was reported at about 4:30 p.m. on July 25 by Muhammad Dan’azumi Tanko of Unguwan Kur Area.

According to the report, the victim, Zahradeen Dan’azumi Tanko, 25, was allegedly attacked at about 3:28 p.m. by two suspects identified as Al’amin Hamisu Gidado, 21, and Yahaya Muazu, 20, both of Ali Garu Area.

The sources said the suspects allegedly conspired and stabbed the victim in the back with a sharp object, inflicting severe injuries.

Upon receiving the report, a police patrol team rushed to the scene and evacuated the victim to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), where he was later confirmed dead by a medical doctor.

The body was deposited at the hospital mortuary for an autopsy, while detectives documented the scene as part of the investigation.

Police arrested the principal suspect in connection with the killing, while efforts have been intensified to track down and arrest the second suspect who fled after the incident.

The case is under investigation, and the suspect is expected to face prosecution upon the conclusion of inquiries.
