The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has clarified the circumstances surrounding the death of retired Comptroller General of the Nigerian Immigration Service, David Shikfu Parradang.

Earlier, sources said he was kidnapped and killed.

Sources had said Parradang was abducted by gunmen after being trailed from a bank where he had withdrawn money.
However, in an official statement issued on Tuesday, the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, provided a detailed account of the incident.

According to the police, Parradang checked into Joy House Hotel, Area 3 Junction, Abuja, on March 3, 2025, around 12:00 PM, after arriving in a black Mercedes Benz.

He paid N22,000 for a night’s stay and later asked a hotel attendant to escort a female guest to his room. The woman was said to have left the premises around 4:00 PM the same day.

“Mr. Parradang did not exit his room after the lady left,” the police statement noted. “Around 4:00 AM on March 4, 2025, a military officer, who was his friend and had become concerned for his welfare, traced him to the hotel. Upon arrival, the officer and the hotel receptionist proceeded to his room, where they found him seated in a chair, unresponsive.”

The police at Durumi Division were immediately alerted, and officers arrived at the scene to secure the area, document evidence, and conduct preliminary investigations. His remains were later transferred to the National Hospital, Abuja, for further examination.

The police further disclosed that efforts were ongoing to locate and apprehend the unidentified female guest who was last seen with Parradang.

While assuring the public of a thorough investigation, the FCT Police Command urged media outlets and the public to refrain from spreading unverified information, particularly allegations of kidnapping or assassination, which could cause unnecessary panic.

“The FCT Police Command remains committed to uncovering the exact circumstances surrounding his death and ensuring justice is served,” the statement added.

Parradang, who served for over 30 years in the Nigerian Immigration Service, was Comptroller General from 2013 to 2015.

He was also a recipient of the national honor of Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR) and a graduate of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS).
