Police confirm attack on students’ hostel in Jigawa

The Police Command in Jigawa has confirmed an attack on students of the Binyaminu Usman Polytechnic, Hadejia, by suspected hoodlums at a private hostel in Malam Madori Local Government Area.

 

Sources  said the incident occurred on Friday when a group of hoodlums armed with sticks and cutlasses trespassed into a private residence used as a hostel by students along Hadejia–Malam Madori road, on the outskirts of the town.

 

According to sources , the suspects attacked the students, dispossessed them of phones, power banks and other valuables before fleeing to an unknown destination.

 

The sources  added that police personnel led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Malam Madori visited the scene and confirmed that two students sustained minor injuries during the attack.

 

The victims, he said, were treated at a hospital and discharged.

 

The sources said the school management was immediately advised to relocate all students residing outside the campus back to the school premises, a directive which was promptly complied with.

 

He said efforts were ongoing to trace and apprehend the fleeing suspects.

 

The command sources assured residents that it would continue to intensify patrols and security surveillance to protect lives and property.
