Hoodlums have attacked the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) airspace site in Lagos, injuring a police inspector and a private security guard, the police have confirmed.

Zagazola learnt that the  incident occurred on Sept. 25 at about 5:05 a.m. during a heavy downpour, when about 20 suspected vandals stormed the facility.

Sources said that Insp. Dada Fisayo and Insp. Francis Azurunwa, who were on duty at the site, came under attack from the hoodlums armed with cutlasses, axes, tiles and other weapons.

“The officers successfully repelled the attack. However, taking advantage of the downpour and the porosity of the compound, another group of hoodlums carted away two 7.5KVA inverters and some lengths of cables from the installation,” the sources said.

It added that Insp. Fisayo sustained injuries and had been treated and was about to be discharged, while a private security guard, Mr. Babatunde Makinde, also suffered a deep cut on his left hand and was receiving treatment.

The Divisional Police Officer and detectives visited the scene, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects and recover the stolen equipment.
