The Police in Edo has confirmed that a reported herdsmen scare in Fugar, Etsakor Central Local Government Area, was a false alarm with no attack, injuries, or threat to lives recorded.
It was gathered that the incident occurred when a cassava farmer in Odame Ebirra settlement allegedly spotted two herdsmen and fled in panic.
His action reportedly triggered fear among other residents, causing a brief commotion as people ran from the area.
Police investigations, however, revealed that the herdsmen did not pose any threat, and there was no confrontation or violent incident.
Authorities have described the situation as a hoax, likely fueled by mischief makers, and urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information that could incite panic.
