Troops arrest four suspected terrorists, collaborators in Monguno

Troops of Headquarters Sector 3, Operation Hadin Kai, have arrested four additional suspects, including a tax collector and three suspected collaborators, during an ongoing operation in Monguno Local Government Area of Borno State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the arrests were made at about 6:48 a.m. on Aug. 30, 2026, during the second day of a three-day operation to detect and apprehend suspected terrorists and their collaborators within the sector’s area of responsibility.
The troops, working with credible sources and surrendered terrorists, were deployed to various entry and exit points of Monguno town.
The operation resulted in the arrest of four suspects comprising one tax collector and three other suspected collaborators.
Items recovered from the suspects included one wristwatch, a chemical identified as “Lamb Dashi,” one sack of beans, assorted drugs including antibiotics, one Infinix mobile phone and ₦104,350.
The suspects and recovered items are currently in the custody of Headquarters Sector 3 for further necessary action.
The second day of the operation ended at about 7:05 p.m. and the operation remains ongoing, with further updates expected.
Security sources said the general situation across the North-East theatre remained calm but unpredictable, while troops maintained satisfactory morale and fighting efficiency.
