Police investigate killing of farmer in Adamawa

The Adamawa State Police Command has commenced investigation into the killing of a 57-year-old farmer, Patrick Mija, who was shot dead by unknown gunmen in Shelleng Local Government Area of the state.

 

Sources comfirmed the incident on Tuesday saying the attack occurred on Oct. 13 at about 2:15 a.m. in Labau community.

 

According to the sources , the police received a distress call from one Boyi Karfe, a resident of Labau, reporting that Mija was shot while returning from his rice farm.

 

“Upon receipt of the report, the Divisional Police Officer in Kiri, alongside his team, visited the scene and rushed the victim to the Primary Health Care Clinic in Wuroyanka, where he was confirmed dead by the doctor on duty,” the statement said.

 

The sources added that the corpse had been deposited at the facility, while efforts were ongoing to identify and apprehend the assailants.

 

“The State Criminal Investigation Department has been detailed to conduct a discreet investigation into the incident,” the sources added.
