Troops of Sector 1, Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS), have arrested a suspected militia member during a clearance operation in Guma Local Government Area.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the operation was carried out at about 5:00 a.m. on July 4 after troops deployed at Tatyough received intelligence on the presence of suspected militia members hiding at Tse Kyia community.

The sources said the troops swiftly responded to the report and arrested one suspect alleged to have been involved in terrorist-related activities in the area.

During the operation, the troops recovered one empty 7.62mm ammunition cartridge case and other sundry items believed to be linked to the suspect.

The suspect and the recovered exhibits are currently in military custody pending further investigation and subsequent handover to the appropriate authorities.

Military sources said the operation forms part of sustained efforts by Operation WHIRL STROKE to dismantle armed militia networks and enhance security across Benue State.
