Police recover buried firearm, 65 live cartridges hidden at construction site in Bama

The Police in Borno have recovered a firearm and 65 rounds of live ammunition at a construction site in Bama town, Bama Local Government Area.
Sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred on Wednesday at about 12:00 p.m. when a casual labourer, discovered a suspicious package while digging a foundation for a new building.
The discovery was reported to the police.
The DPO and Assistant Commissioner of Police in Bama Division promptly visited the site. Upon inspection, they recovered a single-barrel pump-action gun wrapped in a polythene bag, buried underground, along with 65 rounds of live cartridges of 22 calibre.
Police say, efforts are ongoing to trace the owner of the property, while the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) has commenced a thorough investigation into the matter.
