Police recover snatched rifle, arrest 2 suspects in Yobe

The Police Command in Yobe says it has recovered an AK-47 rifle snatched from an officer during an attack in Nguru and arrested two suspects in connection with the incident.
Sources said the incident occurred on Sept. 26 at about 7:00 p.m. when Corporal Amani Ali, who was on duty at the Federal Medical Centre, Nguru, was attacked by yet-to-be-identified assailants and left unconscious.
According to the sources , the attackers carted away the officer’s AK-47 rifle with breach number 562529129, but it was later recovered in a nearby swamp without its magazine.
Sources said the operatives also recovered the magazine, a cap, palm slippers, and the shield of a sword believed to have been used by the attackers as exhibits.
The sources added that the victim was responding to treatment at the General Hospital Nguru while the State CID had taken over the case for a thorough investigation.
