The Katsina State Police Command has arrested four suspected members of a kidnapping syndicate and rescued a four-year-old girl who was abducted in Madaci Yan Nono quarters of Katsina metropolis.

According to the police, the rescue followed a complaint lodged by Alhaji Badamasi Bala, whose two daughters, aged 14 and 4, were kidnapped on Feb. 20, 2025, by unknown persons demanding a ransom of ₦50 million.

Following the complaint, the Commissioner of Police in Katsina State, CP Bello Shehu, directed the command’s anti-kidnapping unit to launch an investigation.

According to a statement made available to X on Wednesday, operatives of the anti-kidnapping squad swiftly swung into action, leading to the arrest of one suspect initially.

Subsequent operations led to the arrest of three other members of the syndicate, aged 25, 19, and 16, respectively, and the successful rescue of the 4-year-old victim unhurt.

During the investigation, the suspects reportedly confessed to the crime. One live round of 7.62mm AK-47 ammunition was recovered from their possession as an exhibit.

The Police Command said efforts are ongoing to locate the second victim and conclude investigations.

Commissioner Shehu commended the operatives for their swift response and professionalism, urging members of the public to continue supporting the police in their efforts to rid the state of crime.
