Residents of Kanawa village in Unaka Ward of Gusau Local Government Area of Zamfara State staged a protest over persistent bandit attacks in the area.

Security sources said the protest, which took place around Kotorkoshi at about 2:45 p.m. on May 4, was triggered by growing frustration among residents over recurring insecurity.

The sources disclosed that the demonstration escalated after some protesters allegedly failed to comply with laid-down regulations, leading to a confrontation with security personnel.

According to the sources, one individual sustained injuries during the incident and is currently receiving medical treatment.

They added that efforts are ongoing to restore calm in the area, while security agencies continue to monitor the situation closely.

The sources noted that engagements with community stakeholders are expected to address grievances and prevent further escalation.
