Reckless Driver Knocks Down Police Inspector in Abuja

A police inspector sustained serious injuries after being knocked down by a reckless driver who took a one-way route near the National Mosque, Abuja on Thursday night.

 

A security source Zagazola Makama that  the incident occurred around 9:00 p.m. when the driver, David Auta, who was operating a Toyota Hummer Bus (Reg. No. FKJ 527 CW), drove against traffic from the National Christian Center towards Wuse Zone 4.

 

“The driver ignored road signs and recklessly took a one-way route, knocking down Inspector James Haruna, who was on routine stop-and-search duty at Gate 1 of the National Mosque,” the source said.

 

The impact left Inspector Haruna with bruises and a fractured left leg. He was immediately rushed to the National Hospital, Abuja, where he is currently receiving treatment.

 

The sources said the police swiftly apprehended the driver and impounded the vehicle. 

 

He added that an investigation into the incident is ongoing, and he is expected to face charges for dangerous driving and obstruction of law enforcement duties.
