Two rival gangs clashed early Sunday in Unwala Quarters, Katsina, resulting in the death of one gang leader and injuries to four others.

Police said the incident occurred at about 2:00 a.m. on March 21, when members of the Unwala gang, led by Ibrahim Amadu, alias Lalaye, engaged in a confrontation with a rival group known as Shararrar Pipe.

During the altercation, Lalaye was killed, and in a reprisal attack, members of his gang reportedly entered the Shararrar Pipe area, wounding four individuals.

The injured were identified as Kabir Abubakar, 30; Muhammad Isyaku, 19; Abdulqadir Muktar, 32; and Safyanu Idris, 26, with Safyanu Idris later succumbing to his injuries while receiving medical treatment.

The DPO mobilized patrol teams to the affected areas, restoring order promptly. Eleven suspects from both quarters, including Jibrin Yau, alias Baban Jannat, and Aliyu Yau, alias Bawa, were arrested and are currently in police custody.

Police sources said investigations are ongoing to bring other perpetrators to justice and prevent further escalation in the area.
