Intense infighting between rival terrorist factions, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Bakoura-led Boko Haram fighters, has resulted in heavy casualties, security sources revealed on Thursday

Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the clash reportedly occurred east of Mallam Fatori, near the border with Niger Republic, towards the eastern part of Boso.

The sources said that the fighting led to the deaths of dozens of terrorists on both sides, with several fighters sustaining severe injuries.

“The two groups have been engaged in bitter rivalry over influence and control in the area. This latest confrontation has further weakened their operational strength, as many fighters were killed, and their hideouts exposed,” the source said.
