Security forces arrest notorious suspect behind  fatal Kauru attack in Kaduna, recover weapons and ammunition

Security forces have arrested a 28-year-old suspect, Samaila Muhammad, in connection with a deadly armed invasion of a residence in Unguwan Ganye village, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

 

Zagazola Makama report that the attack, which occurred around 10:00 p.m. on Tuesday, led to the death of a 90-year-old woman and left two members of her family critically injured.

 

According to reliable sources, unidentified armed men stormed the residence of one Abdullahi Ibrahim, 60, shooting indiscriminately. The attack left Ibrahim and his 19-year-old son, Abdulmanan Ibrahim, with multiple gunshot wounds. 

 

The family matriarch, Fatima Ibrahim, was fatally hit and later confirmed dead at the Kauru General Hospital.

 

Following a distress call, security operatives in Kauru swiftly mobilised to the area and launched a coordinated response.

 

During a follow-up operation, one suspect, Samaila Muhammad, a resident of the same community and described by locals as a notorious criminal, was apprehended. Items recovered during the operation included a Dane gun, two expended 9.4mm cartridges, and clothing identified by the victims.

 

Security sources disclosed that efforts are ongoing to track and apprehend other members of the gang who fled the scene.

 

Authorities assured residents of Kauru and surrounding communities of continued efforts to strengthen security and ensure justice for victims of violent crimes.
