Security operatives in Niger State have recovered 50 rustled sheep following an attack by suspected livestock thieves on Dapo Village.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that the incident occurred on March 14, 2025, around 4:00 a.m. when unidentified hoodlums stormed the village, stole the sheep, and loaded them into three vehicles.
Upon receiving a distress call at about 6:00 a.m., local vigilantes mobilized to track the rustlers. Two of the vehicles, a Toyota Hijet and a Toyota First Lady, were intercepted along the Yangalo-Nasko Road, while the third vehicle took an unknown route and escaped.
The drivers of the intercepted vehicles abandoned them and fled into the bush. The rustled sheep were recovered and handed over to Sarkin Dilale, Malam Abubakar Umar, for safekeeping before police reinforcements arrived.
However, before security operatives could take full control of the scene, an angry mob set both vehicles ablaze.
