By: Zagazola Makama
Operatives of the Kogi State Police Command have foiled an attempted abduction along Ayere Road in the state, forcing the armed attackers to flee.
It was gathered that the incident occurred on March 14, 2025, at about 5:55 p.m. when unidentified gunmen barricaded the road, attempting to kidnap travelers.
Intelligence sources told Zagazola Makama that upon receiving a distress alert, the Unit Commander (UC) stationed at Sharper Corner Pindown Point swiftly mobilized his team to the scene.
The presence of the police forced the hoodlums to abandon their operation and escape into the surrounding bushes.
Two passengers sustained gunshot wounds during the attack and were rushed to a hospital for treatment.
Security reinforcements from the 70 PMF Squadron have since joined the team on the ground to comb the area for the fleeing suspects. Meanwhile, patrol operations along the highway have been intensified to prevent further attacks.
