A joint security taskforce in Anambra State has arrested a prime suspect in connection with the gruesome killing of 13 persons, reportedly indigenes of Ebonyi State, in Ogboji community, Orumba South Local Government Area.

Zagazola Makama report that the arrest follows the June 30 attack in which gunmen stormed the area in two Sport Utility Vehicles and opened fire on members of the Abakaliki community who were holding their monthly general meeting, killing multiple persons on the spot.

The sources said acting on credible intelligence, arrested one Sunday Mbamu, a native of Abakaliki in Ebonyi State but resident in Ogboji town, who is strongly suspected to be the mastermind of the attack.

Police say Mbamu is currently in custody undergoing interrogation and is said to have made useful statements that will aid the ongoing investigation.

More arrest will be made as security forces hunt for attackers.
