Suspected Berom Militias Attack Herdsmen, Kill Cow in Plateau

Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have launched a manhunt for suspected assailants following an attack on herders and cattle at Naben Village in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident occurred at about 2:19 p.m. on Sunday, August 16, 2026, when suspected Berom militias reportedly attacked herders tending their cattle in the area.
Troops of Sector 4, Operation Enduring Peace, responded to the distress report and moved to the location.
Source told Zagazola Makama that the troops, upon arrival, discovered one cow killed in the attack, while the affected herder had managed to escape unharmed.
Following the incident, the troops dominated the general area and commenced offensive operations and a manhunt for the suspected attackers.
Security forces are continuing efforts to track down the assailants and prevent further attacks against herders and farming communities in the area.
