Tanker driver escapes lynching as mob sets vehicle ablaze in Zamfara

A tanker driver narrowly escaped lynching after his vehicle was involved in a fatal accident along Sokoto–Gusau Highway.
The incident on Thursday at Kadauri–Jabaka village in Maru Local Government Area.
Sources said the tanker, belonging to Green Ville Company and driven by one Ibrahim Alhassan from Kaduna State, knocked down a motorcyclist who died on the spot.
According to sources, the driver attempted to escape but was intercepted by a mob, suspected to be illegal miners from Jabaka mining site, who attacked him with machetes.
“The driver sustained injuries but was rescued by police operatives who mobilised to the scene. However, the mob set the tanker ablaze before order was restored,” said the sources.
He said the corpse of the deceased motorcyclist had been evacuated while investigation into the incident had commenced.
