Zagazola learnt that the suspects, identified as Mamuda Umar, 50, of Jibia, and Lawal Hamisu, 55, of Dan Abdullahi, Niger Republic, were intercepted by a border patrol team at about 8:30 p.m. on Thursday along the Jibia–Dan Abdullahi route.

According to the sources , the suspects were driving a green Passat vehicle loaded with the fuel, when they were apprehended based on credible intelligence.

“The items were suspected to be intended for supply to bandits terrorising communities around the Nigeria–Niger Republic border. The suspects and exhibits have been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Katsina, for discreet investigation,” the sources said.

It assured that security operatives would sustain surveillance and intelligence-led operations to block all supply routes to criminal groups in the state.
