Terrorists ambush Niger soldiers, kill 10, injured 13 and 16 missing

No fewer than 10 Nigeriene soldiers
died in an ambush by a group of 'armed terrorists' in southwestern Niger, close to the border of Mali border on Friday February 10, 2023.
The Ministry of Defence disclosed that the detachment of Operation ALMAHAOU, on patrol, in the northern area of the BANIBANGOU department, fell into a complex ambush stretched by a group of armed terrorist men, around the locality of INTAGAMEY on the Nigeriene- Malian border.
It said that the deadly ambush prompted intervention of air carriers which forced the attackers to withdraw towards a neighboring country.
Ten soldiers killed, 16 others missing, 13 were wounded in action while the 3 vehicles that ran into the ambush were destroyed.
The statement stated that the casualties of the enemies were yet to be determined. However, several bodies were carried away by the enemy in his withdrawal.
The Minister of National Defense, on behalf of the President of the Republic, Head of State, Supreme Chief of the Armed Forces, sends his sad condolences to the families of the deceased and wishes a speedy recovery to the wounded. He also addresses his congratulations and encouragement to the SDFs who continue to prove their commitment and determination in their mission to defend the country.
