The Theatre Commander, Operation HADIN KAI, Maj.-Gen. AE Abubakar, on April 23 visited Kukareta following the successful repulsion of an ISWAP terrorist attack on troops of 233 Battalion.
Security sources said the visit was aimed at conducting an on-the-spot operational assessment, commending troops for their performance, and facilitating the immediate replenishment of critical combat enablers and ammunition.
On arrival at the location, the Theatre Commander was received by the Commander, Sector 2, alongside the Commander, 27 Task Force Brigade, and the Commanding Officer of 233 Battalion.
He was briefed on the conduct of the operation and later taken round troop locations where he inspected neutralised terrorists as well as recovered arms and ammunition.
Maj.-Gen. Abubakar charged the troops to sustain an offensive-defensive posture and maintain heightened vigilance in ongoing operations across the theatre.
In a related development, the Theatre Commander also made a stopover at Jakana, where he received a briefing from the Commander, Army Headquarters Intervention Force, on ongoing operations in the area.
The visit was described as successful and hitch-free.
