The Theatre Commander of Joint Task Force (JTF) North East, Operation HADIN KAI, Maj Gen Abdulsalam Abubakar, on March 20, visited troops stationed at Mallam Fatori in Abadam Local Government Area of Borno State following the successful repulsion of an ISWAP attack on March 18.
The visit, which included Maj Gen Abubakar’s senior staff and entourage, combined operational assessment with Eid-El-Fitr celebrations for personnel deployed in the area. During the visit, the Theatre Commander conducted an on-the-spot inspection of defensive positions, including key approaches to the camp, Forward Operating Base (FOB) Kangarr, and D Company deployments at Bosso.
Addressing the troops, Maj Gen Abubakar conveyed the felicitations of the Chief of Defence Staff and the Chief of Army Staff, commending the personnel for their “outstanding gallantry, resilience, and dedication” during the recent engagement.
He also facilitated the deployment of additional combat equipment and the replenishment of ordnance expended during operations.
The Theatre Commander emphasised the importance of maintaining vigilance, sustaining operational readiness, and fostering morale among troops in the Joint Operations Area.
The troops expressed appreciation for the visit, which they said boosted morale and reinforced their resolve to defend lives and property in the face of insurgent threats.
