Troops arrest 29-year-old man over alleged illegal firearm possession in Jos

Troops of Sector 3, Operation Enduring Peace, have arrested a 29-year-old man, Mr Vincent Azi, for alleged illegal possession of a firearm in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The suspect was arrested at about 9:30 a.m. on September 19, 2026, at Dong Kassa community following information concerning his alleged possession of a firearm.
Troops subsequently conducted a search of the suspect’s residence, but no significant item was recovered during the operation.
A security source said Azi remains in custody while further investigations are being conducted to establish the circumstances surrounding the allegation.
The arrest forms part of ongoing security operations aimed at identifying and disrupting the movement and illegal possession of firearms within communities in Plateau State.
