Troops of Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) have arrested an alleged impostor who reportedly posed as a serving soldier in Jalingo, Taraba State.

Security sources said the arrest followed a distress report from the GRA Divisional Police Officer on April 4, 2026, about a suspected impostor involved in a roadblock incident.

On arrival at the scene at about 7:40 p.m., troops apprehended the suspect, who allegedly claimed to be a recruit that absconded from Depot Nigerian Army during training but was falsely presenting himself as a soldier serving at Banki Junction under Sector 3 Operation Hadin Kai.

Preliminary findings indicated that an accomplice of the suspect, who is currently at large, had earlier been involved in a confrontation with a police officer, during which the officer sustained injuries and was evacuated to the Police Clinic in Jalingo for treatment.

Security sources said the arrested suspect is currently undergoing profiling, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend his accomplice and investigate the incident further.
