Troops foil armed robbery attempt in Karu estate

Troops of 177 Guards Battalion at Masaka Patrol Base have foiled an armed robbery operation in Mallam Nura Estate within the Angwan Tanko–Karu general area of Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
Security sources said the incident occurred at about 2:50 a.m. on April 5, 2026, when troops on night patrol responded to a distress call about an ongoing robbery in the estate.
On arrival, the troops engaged the suspected criminals, forcing them to abandon their mission and flee the area.
Following the encounter, the troops dominated the general area and maintained a security presence within the estate to reassure residents and prevent further attacks.
Authorities said operations were ongoing to track the fleeing suspects and strengthen security patrols across vulnerable communities in the Karu axis.
