Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have arrested a Chadian national and a Nigerian during a stop-and-search operation along the Maiduguri-Mafa road in Borno State.

The suspects were arrested at about 7:23 p.m. on Aug. 19 at Dusuman by troops of 195 Battalion conducting a stop-and-search operation based on credible intelligence.

The suspects were identified as Alhaji Abdoulaye Mahamat, 46, a Chadian national, and Jibrin Grema, 35.

Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the suspects were travelling in a Toyota Land Cruiser, registration number BO MGM 728 XA, conveying used vehicle engines and other spare parts.

Troops also recovered two Android mobile phones and an international passport belonging to Mahamat.

The Chadian national, driver and recovered items have been taken into military custody at 195 Battalion for further investigation.

The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by troops under Operation HADIN KAI and Operation DESERT SANITY V to disrupt terrorist logistics networks and prevent the movement of materials that could support criminal activities in the North East.

Security sources said the general situation across the theatre remained calm but unpredictable, while troops maintained satisfactory morale and operational readiness.
